JUNIORS:Don't stress too much about career preparation now - there's a life beyond the idea of "Do What You Love."(But if you insist on stressing a little bit this summer, here's how you can improve your SAT scores simply by reading.)...and some insight on the dreaded college essay. UNDERCLASSMEN:Here's why starting college prep in ninth grade matters. NEWS/EVENTS/TRAVEL:Indiana and Michigan college tours are in ink on the calendar for June and July (including Notre Dame University, Grand Valley State University, and a host of others both of the famous and hidden gem variety). Virginia schools are on target for October and it looks like it will be Florida in November. If weather permits, Texas schools will happen during the winter months.A continued reminder that I will be unavailable for meetings from June 12 - 22. And if you are interested in learning more about student loans, here's the best one on the market right now. (You'll have to read to believe.)From the blog:WordPress has notified me that today’s entry will be the 150th posting on my blog, which I established all the way back in September of 2011. That’s 150 entries and musings and even more hyperlinks, photos, campus visits, college equestrian events, and suggestions shared. It’s 32 months of regular updates to readers and followers, a host of Facebook posts and Tweets, and more typed characters than I care to count. The best part? I’m a better educational consultant now than I was when the first entry was posted. I’m also still learning my craft with each passing day.Read More
