News/Travel:I had the honor this week of being invited to Randolph College (Lynchburg, VA) in May 2015 to attend the Heick Symposium on the Liberal Arts. Representatives from liberal arts colleges, from admissions offices, high school counselors, and independents like myself will converge for three days to discuss topics related to liberal arts education. (Those of you who have been working with me long enough know that it's a topic I'm pretty passionate about.)Also, we get to tour Randolph's riding center. I've seen it before, but who says no to another visit?A continued reminder that I will be in Wellington for the College Prep Invitational Horse Show January 15 - January 19. Meeting slots are available Thursday afternoon and evening, as well as Sunday evening and early Monday morning before my flight. Contact me if you'll be in the area and let's get an appointment set. Seniors:Don't fall down on the job next semester - you need a strong finish so that all of your scholarship and financial aid offers will remain stable after you graduate. (That's right - if your grades drop, colleges can revoke your merit scholarships.)Summary: Senioritis is the enemy. Keep up your great work!Juniors:If we haven't talked about social media yet, we will. (Spoiler alert: I take it very seriously.) Here's why: One Bad Tweet Can Be Costly. (And it isn't just limited to athletics - admissions counselors look to.)Underclassmen:Campus feature for the week - video from St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, NC.Parents:My accountant has asked me to request that all open invoices from 2014 be paid in full by December 31 for tax purposes so that I can meet the end of my budget year without anything lingering. Your attention to this is very much appreciated. From the blog:Talk about a warm welcome! As we pulled up to the campus ofAlbright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, a brand new $60 million center for business and civic leadership greeted our bus. (Smiling admissions counselors and a delightful continental breakfast greeted us once we were inside – a double welcome!). Read More
