Demonstrated interest

In the ever-evolving world of college admissions, the importance of having the applicant show “demonstrated interest” in a school is growing at many campuses around the country. While the traditional markers of grades and standardized test scores are still at the top of the list for importance with college admission counselors, showing interest in a particular school is quickly becoming one of the top criteria in the decision making process.

A recent survey from the National Association of College Admission Counseling showed that approximately 50 percent of schools claimed that demonstrated interest ranks as being “moderately important” or “highly important” in the application process.
