JUNIORS/SENIORS: There are some pretty cool internships for enrolled college students - including this annual opportunity from the folks at the American Quarter Horse Association. Are you considering working in journalism or working for a breed organization? If so, check out what skills they're looking for in a candidate. And no matter what you want to do for a career, here are five reasons why it doesn't matter what you major in.
UNDERCLASSMEN:
Are you interested in doing something with horses as a career? Are you interested in learning more about natural horsemanship techniques? Famed horseman Buck Brannaman is partnering with Sheridan College in Wyoming - looks like an interesting program.
Parents: More food for thought on those pesky college rankings: "The US News Rankings are Terrible for Students." From the blog:
I’ve written in past entries on this blog about college fairs – most specifically, about National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) college fairs, which are held year-round – and also about college fairs that feature schools right out of the book Colleges that Change Lives. But what I haven’t covered are the thousands of other (“regular”) college fairs that will crisscross the country in the next three months. If NACAC fairs are the “A circuit” horse shows of college fairs and CTCL fairs are the “breed shows,” then your local high school college fair or college night program is the local schooling show – and it’s just as educational as its fancy counterparts.
