Scholarship myths and realities.

 SENIORS:If you're working on a riding highlights video for a potential IHSA coach or are still working on your financial aid paperwork, be sure to set up a meeting soon!  FAFSA information is due to many schools by February 1.JUNIORS:IF YOU'RE CONSIDERING APPLYING TO AN IVY LEAGUE OR HIGHLY SELECTIVE SCHOOL IN THE FALL - I've subscribed to a new application evaluation service that can assist you in weighing the merits of your application BEFORE the admissions officers see them.  Call me for details.(Heads up for March - we'll start talking about ESSAYS!)TRAVEL:My trip to Florida for the College Preparatory Invitational Horse Show is booked; I'll be in West Palm Beach from March 27 through 31.  Appointment scheduling will be a bit spotty due to my commitments at the event, but those wanting one-on-one appointments can have them.  Call me soon and we'll get something on the books!In April, I'll head to eastern Ohio for the "Hearts of Ohio" tour circuit and then to Equine Affaire in Columbus to visit the schools attending the event.  In June, I'll be in eastern Indiana visiting independent colleges there (including Notre Dame University).From the blog:Author’s Note:  This posting is a follow up to last week’s entry, “Dollars and (Horse) Cents,” which addresses scholarships and financial aid.  For information on those topics, please click the link.If you’re a high school senior who’s heard good news lately (you’re accepted to the college of your dreams!) and – even better – if you’re a student who’s heard great news (you’ve been awarded a scholarship!), you’re no doubt sailing into your final semester feeling great about the coming fall.  After all, you’ve done everything you were supposed to do and everything has worked out beautifully.Right?Read More
