Soaking Up the Last Days of Summer

Where has summer gone?

If you ask me if I'm in total and complete denial that August is only a couple of weeks away, which means the opening of the Common Application for my students and also the start of the new school year for many, the answer will be a full and unequivocable: YES.I can never believe that summer goes as fast as it does, but then I read a Facebook update from a trainer friend this afternoon and she referred to one of her riders making progress "this early in the show season" and thought to myself, "Um, it's July. Early in the show season was spring, wasn't it - our regional championships for dressage are only two months away..."Still, I guess everything is relative, right? The best part about July is that we still have a lot of summer left - even if you're a student who's starting school early in August. The weather will still be warm (too warm in many places, I admit), the days will remain long, and there will still be plenty of horse shows left to attend, even as we slide slowly into fall.So grab your sunscreen and get back out there, folks!

From the folks at The Plaid Horse:"The equestrian community is generous, and many people and organizations are invested in the future of our young riders and up and coming professionals. The next generation is the future of the sport itself. We’ve compiled grants and scholarship designed to boost young riders and grant exciting opportunities in the sport."
