News/Travel:Travel planning for 2015 continues apace and will continue into the New Year.  Texas was off the list and is now back on, though no dates are set yet.  Cincinnati and Lexington-area colleges have been added for early June and I'll be back in Lynchburg, VA in October.  (And by then, it'll be Christmas 2015 already!)The latest from the NCEA is here as well. The College Prep Invitational Horse Show runs January 16 - January 19, 2015.  Meeting slots are available Thursday afternoon and evening, as well as Sunday evening and early Monday morning before my flight.  If we need to get appointments on the calendar, please let me know between now and January 15. Seniors:Those of you I've spoken with have been incredibly fortunate in getting admitted to your early action schools.  (We planned it that way when we chose them, remember?) But if you've received a rejection or deferral - or your friends have and you want to console them - there's a great piece just out from Forbes that tackles the issue.Juniors:This isn't just true for UGA, all colleges have to maintain their school horses to the best of their abilities, as they're crucial to the success of the program.  (The way a college cares for its school horses tells you a lot about their mission and values!)Also, if you're considering attending vet school one day, you'd better read this.Underclassmen:Thinking of becoming a working student this summer or in the future?  Better read this first.Parents:Please refer to your open invoices from 2014 and do your best to pay them in full by December 31.  My accountant and I very much appreciate your help. Also, if you want to guarantee (yep, guarantee) that your student will succeed in college, here's what you need to know. From the blog:Tradition was a word that was frequently spoken during our evening at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania and it’s a word that is regularly spoken on LVC’s campus as well.  And those traditions begin at freshman orientation with the annual water ceremony when each student brings with him or her some water from home to pour into a communal urn in the campus peace garden along with the rest of the incoming class.  When each student has finished pouring, the water is then poured into LVC’s pond – a symbol of community and unity. Read More
