Who doesn't love a great campus tour in summer?

Students - don't forget to let Randi know how your summer campus visits have been going!  Campus visit reporting sheets are available to help you organize your likes, dislikes, and outline a strategy for follow-up visits.  Call or email to have one sent to you! NEWS ITEMS:Virginia Intermont Update:Currently, I don't believe any students have placed Virginia Intermont on their lists for fall, but because the school made news last week with the departure of coach Eddie Federwisch (who joins the team at SCAD), here is a quick update of what I know:Virginia Intermont is having some trouble both with their accreditation (i.e. the certifications for their academic programs) and with financial matters.  More updates will most likely be available regarding their status at the end of summer (closer to the beginning of the fall semester).  Federwisch has assumed his new post at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and is charged with bolstering their minor program as well as working with their riding teams.  His tenure at VIC was impressive and he will no doubt bring a lot to the table in Savannah.LOTS of rumors are currently swirling about Eddie's move and VIC's status, but I will only pass on information from reliable sources (e.g. The Chronicle of Higher Education and college-operated web sites) in an effort to keep the rumors at bay and maintain the reputations of all institutions and people involved.  If anyone has questions about anything they've heard, please contact me.  I will also be in Virginia on July 22 and 23 visiting Lynchburg College, Randolph College, and Sweet Briar College.  If I obtain any more factual information during this trip, I will share it.Equestrian-ONLY Package Available:For students who may already have a college list in place or may be working with another educational consultant in their hometown, I'm now offering an equestrian-only advising package, which includes 3 meetings to discuss and advise on the equestrian component of the college search.  Additional meetings and support services can be purchased as a part of the package for those who wish.  For others, it can be an economical way to get some educational consultation and support without the full commitment (and price!) of a comprehensive package. From the blog:.The third stop on our Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) tour was tiny Oakland City University in Oakland City, Indiana.  Located just north of Evansville, OCU has set their sights on becoming a leading faith-based institution of higher education in the U.S. and are doing so while still being the least expensive of the four-year ICI member schools. From a curricular standpoint, OCU has a strong mix of liberal arts and professional programs, with many recently having received new accreditations – including the business program, teacher education, the principal program, physical education, religion, and health sciences.  The university is also starting a new forensic science minor that will tie in with either the biology or criminal justice programs.  Music and art tie together nicely for students with interests in the worship arts and the school also has a proud athletic tradition and plays in Division II despite its small size.  (They also boast the highest four-year graduation rate of all Division II schools in the nation!)  Read More
