News/Travel:The Sweet Briar College closing has remained in the news this week (and not surprisingly).  An online and groundswell movement to #SaveSweetBriar is underway, but unless the group can raise $250 million and the college's total enrollment, the situation is still grim.  Unfortunately, in the meantime, current students are receiving conflicting advice about how they should address their needs next semester.Also complicating the matter of closing the campus is the fact that the campus land is in trust and unable to be sold.In NCEA news, the group has named its national advisory board as it continues to move forward. Seniors:We Americans love rollercoasters, horror films, and scary college admission stories.  Don't allow yourselves to be scared! And for dressage riders, if you aspire to ride at the international level, that horse switching experience from your intercollegiate days might just come in handy.Juniors:How is your application essay like a selfie?  Here are five ways.Underclassmen:The college mail is undoubtedly flowing into your home - but are they gaming you a little bit with overly-flowery promises?  The short answer is yes.Parents:Is there a way to tell if a college is about to close?  Yes there is. From the blog:Don’t hate me, students, but I’ve always found the writing process to be incredibly easy.(Hey!  I said don’t hate me!)I don’t know why this is, but since I struggle more with math, I’ve concluded that my brain is just hard-wired in favor of languages and letters and not toward numbers.  (I read somewhere that either people can do math or they can spell; I can spell, so there you go.)  Read More
