News/Travel:By now, most of you have already read about the NCAA declaration that it is considering dropping NCEA equestrian sport from its list of emerging sports. The AQHA has addressed the seriousness of this issue and the IHSA has lent its support for the continuance of the sport as well.  Matters have not been helped by Kansas State announcing that it will discontinue equestrian in 2016, but discussions are still ongoing elsewhere.I don't know much more than what I've read in the press at this point, but will continue to keep you informed as developments continue to occur.  I'm slated to visit SMU and TCU in March 2015, which should provide some enlightenment on the situation. PARENTS/STUDENTS:Wondering whether or not you should send that extra letter of recommendation?  Whether you're applying to Tufts or not, this visual aid is a great tool to help you decide.Parents, please note that the October billing cycle is almost upon us; your attention to your September balance (if unpaid) is appreciated. From the blog:If you pay attention to state politics, you might remember hearing about Randolph-Macon College during the primary elections in the spring when House majority leader Eric Cantor was bested in the polls by a professor from a small liberal arts college in northern Virginia.That professor was Dave Brat of the economics department at Randolph-Macon College, the liberal arts college which marked the first stop on the 2014 edition of the Council of Independent Colleges of Virginia (CICV) college tours.Read More
