Who doesn't love a great campus tour in summer?

Students, remember to save your Common Application log in information on the keychain in your Custom College Plan account online!!! NEWS ITEMS:The 2014 Common Application is now live but has experienced some typical "new launch" technical difficulties.  I recommend waiting until next week to create your account, as the Common App staff are working diligently to de-bug the form. The Ohio Six College Tour for high school students runs from August 5-7 and includes tours of Kenyon, Oberlin, Denison, Ohio Wesleyan, Wittenberg, and the College of Wooster. This is a great opportunity to check out some wonderful private colleges!2013 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Equestrian College Fair:  The 2013 equestrian college fair hosted by the folks of the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show in Katy, Texas will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013.  The college fair portion will be in the afternoon (2:00 - 5:00) and the coaches' panel will be from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the same location, which will be the Arena Club of the Great Southwest Equestrian Center.  It's a great event and if you will be in the Houston area, it's worth checking out.  Admission is free.***For those planning to attend, please contact me about scheduling in-person meetings on Friday, September 20th.   I am in talks with Pin Oak and hope to attend the event.***2014 College Preparatory Invitational Horse Show:  The 2014 CPI Horse Show will be held at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center on March 28-30, 2014.  This week it was announced that IHSA Director-At-Large Peter Cashman will be the show manager.  I have also confirmed with the organizers that I will speak on Friday, March 28th to kick off the weekend's events.Applications for hunt seat riders will be available on August 15 and for dressage riders on September 15.  Be sure to submit your applications quickly, as the event is popular and spaces fill up fast.  (Visit their web site here.)Equestrian-ONLY Package Available:For students who may already have a college list in place or may be working with another educational consultant in their hometown, I'm now offering an equestrian-only advising package, which includes 1-4 meetings to discuss and advise on the equestrian component of the college search.  Additional meetings and support services can be purchased as a part of the package for those who wish.  For others, it can be an economical way to get some educational consultation and support without the full commitment (and price!) of a comprehensive package. From the blog:.When the opportunity to visit three of the private colleges in Lynchburg, Virginia that boast noted riding programs and that very same opportunity happened to fall the week after a horse show so I wouldn’t be up against any training deadlines, I jumped on it.  All three schools have long been staples on the school lists I produce for students annually so the chance to really get down to the core of what makes each one unique and special was one I couldn’t afford to miss.  (Extra special thanks go out to Margaret Lyle Jones of Virginia Episcopal School for making the whole thing come together!) The first campus of the 2013 Blue Ridge Counselors’ Tour was Sweet Briar College, a noted all-women’s institution with a great history and tradition, both in and out of the saddle.  Founded in 1901 after Indiana Fletcher Williams left her entire estate to found an institution of higher learning for women, the campus originally spanned 8,000 acres; today, at 3,250 acres, the scope of the campus grounds and facilities is impressive – especially when you consider that the student body size of just under 800 women makes it quite intimate and community-oriented.  Read More
