News/Travel:Don't forget to pick up your copy of the intercollegiate issue of The Chronicle of the Horse over the weekend - I received my online copy yesterday and there are some wonderful stories on what makes competing as part of the IHSA, NCEA, IDA, and ANRC so special. (And yes, all four of the organizations are covered - it's a big issue!)Sweet Briar is back in the news this week and the tales keep getting stranger. A private firm began to investigate the closure and found evidence of fraud and a judge in Bedford County, VA ruled that the college can't dispose of any of its assets (including 56 school horses) for six months. I have a feeling we're going to read more on this story before the month is out.And finally, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana - a school known for not only their equestrian program, but for their Instagram video while traveling home from IHSA Nationals this spring (check it out on my Facebook page if you haven't seen it) - announced Wednesday that they have launched a new nursing program. Juniors:Six big changes are ahead for the Common Application and will affect your class.And a recent student poll revealed that seniors thought the hardest part of the college application process was writing their essays. (I can help you with that - not to worry!)Underclassmen:One editorial writer suggests that the best thing you can do to prepare for your college years is find your passion.Parents:Looking ahead - 10 questions college financial aid officers wish parents would ask and (on the other side) how confusing those financial aid award letters can often be. From the blog:After finishing up a delightful time at Miami University, our group of intrepid counselors (both of the independent and school-based variety) packed up and headed a short trek east to visit the co-host campus for our program, the folks at the University of Dayton, home of the Dayton Flyers and a lot of really cool academic programming. In fact, U Dayton is a unique university in a lot of ways because, on the surface, it appears to be a school with a lot of contradictions in its midst – but as our visit went on, we were soon to learn that those contradictions are at the heart of what makes the campus very special.
