JUNIORS/SENIORS:The president of Franklin & Marshall College has seven pieces of advice for you - and they're good!Boring but important:  When you're considering helping with tuition payments by getting a summer job, there's a big difference between present day and 1978. UNDERCLASSMEN:Thinking of riding in the NCEA?  They just hired a new sport consultant.NEWS/EVENTS/TRAVEL:I am confirmed for my visit to northeastern Virginia schools in October.  I'm also confirmed for Pennsylvania school visits in November.  Texas is off the schedule for this fall but I might travel down in early 2015 to visit a few NCEA schools.My topics for the 2015 College Preparatory Invitational Horse Show in Wellington have been confirmed.  I'll talk about what goes on "Inside the Admissions Office" and then discuss "The Top 5 Ways to Prepare Yourself for a College Riding Career."I will also be interviewed for an article in the intercollegiate edition of Dressage Today (which will be released in December).  The topic is the changing face of the equine major. Parents:Boring but important news for you guys:  Liberal arts colleges produce more phD holders than their big research counterparts.  (This article requires some number crunching, but it's interesting.)From the blog:The last day of our tour with the Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) group dawned sunny and hot. Still, nothing was warmer than the welcome we received when we set foot on the growing campus of Valparaiso University, a school that currently educates around 4,500 students (graduate and undergraduate combined) and hopes to grow to a total of around 6,000 in the coming years.  (The total will include the graduate students, who comprise a group of around 700 and the law students, who number approximately 525 at present.)Read More
